Distinguished Visit by Dr. Sabrina Bechet from the Royal Observatory of Belgium to Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Library
On 18 October 2025, Dr. Sabrina Bechet, Scientist at the Royal Observatory of Belgium and Member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), visited the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Library. During her visit, she examined several significant archival document titles, including the ‘Annales de l’Observatoire de Paris’ and ‘Annales de l’Observatoire Royal de Bruxelles’. She also reviewed the ‘Spots, Faculae, and Prominences’ records of Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, along with the ‘Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Bulletin’. Dr. Bechet showed particular interest in the historic sunspot drawings from the Royal Observatory of Belgium, noting their scientific relevance and historical context. She expressed her appreciation for the well-preserved collections and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the staff in safeguarding rare and historical materials. She further admired the aesthetic organisation and careful maintenance of the century-old library building. Her visit highlighted the spirit of international collaboration and shared commitment within the global astronomical community.
